Pi isn't only irrational, it is also non-algebraic. So it would be funnier if he said "who are you calling non-algebraic?", thus creating a mini-allegory on racism. One can imagine one group of numbers treating another unfairly, based on such a classification. (Exercise: develop a similar allegory, but using functions over the complex numbers.) We can all learn from mathematics, not only to do calculations, but also to get along with each other as human beings. Dare I say it is "mathemagical"?

You won't get an argument from me. I'm the guy who made that famous poster meant for elementary school classrooms. It's a picture of a galaxy that says, "Math is universal!"
